Important pieces of a childs space are storage drawers, toy chests, bunk or trundle beds, child sized chairs and tables. Childrens look at how they can interact with a piece of furniture. Kids and their parents want usability and durability, so kids furniture must be solid and well-made. Parents often design their child space with furniture easy to update as the child ages. Other parents seek the familiar and furniture items that fit in well with the rest of the house.

Now, let's take a look at a short list of child furniture terms you may not understand.

  • Armoire - A movable wardrobe, usually with one or two doors.

  • Bassinet - A newborn baby's bed, typically made of woven reeds.

  • Bean Bag - Furniture made of fabric and filled with small chunks of plastic pellets.

  • Bunk Bed - A type of bed in which one bed is stacked on top of another.

  • Cornice - A decorative element at the topmost portion of the furniture.

  • Cradle - A bed for a baby, oscillating on rockers.

  • Crib - A baby's bed with high, often moveable sides.

  • Daybed - Bed made out of wood or metal, used as bed and seating area.

  • Foam - Material used for cushioning or to pad upholstered furniture.

  • Highchair - An elevated or high chair used for feeding babies.

  • Rocking horse - A child's toy consisting of a wooden horse mounted on a rocker.
