Unfortunately in today's world many parent's our caught between a rock and hard place, both have to work to make ends meet. When they get home, they must contend with laundry, cooking, shopping, homework, their children's activities, and housekeeping. This obviously leaves very little family or personal time. It seems much more difficult then generations of the past, where it only had taken one income to make ends meet.

As a sidebar, I know it was only men working in those days, but that is not the point of what I am trying to bring out, the article is about child rearing. Ok let's step back from the bench and resume the article.

In order for our children to comprehend the concept of manners and respect, kids have to be taught, and then constantly reminded until it is second nature. Also be shown what is considered acceptable behavior and that which is not. In reality most parents our exhausted, they do not have the time or inclination to keep reminding their child to say please and thank you, or watch every game they play, or show watched. If censors claim it is suitable for children of a certain age, then that should be fine. Many parents have no choice but to let that slide then investigate if it meets their moral values. There are much more important things to consider about, like survival.

Children seem to be exposed to more technology then we were, making them more vulnerable in many ways. They do not have time just to be kids with imaginations and honing in on developing social skills. This new technology plays a big role in how children relate and function on daily bases. Some of it is very positive, and it is this mans thinking there is a very negative element as well. They are being exposed to everything much earlier, perhaps when they are not mentally, physically, or emotionally ready. They play video games that at times inspire violence, text on cell phones which avoids actual speech and personal interaction, as well as reality television which demonstrates you do not need to pay your dues, or go to school to succeed, all one has to do is win a spot and get people to like them.

Like I said at the beginning of this article we are as parents between a rock and hard place. However we could do few things on our own, like if we are going to supply our children a cell phone to keep tabs, no texting, just a straight forward mode of communication. Lobby for later times for reality shows or ones that depict any negative, as well as putting back on networks shows with family values, with a moral at the end of each episode. Any video games that have violence, killing, should be 18 and over. The last thing is demand that the Government figure out away to allow people to earn enough to survive, and have the quality time they need to raise there families without feeling exhausted.
